As pet lovers and pet owners ourselves at Bios, we truly understand the hearts of pet parents. Losing a pet can be like losing a family member.
Our pets show us unconditional love. And although we don’t speak the same language, there is an unbreakable trust between a pet and his or her family.
The loss of a pet can be a very profound experience – and more often than not, we are left not knowing the best way to honor them once they pass.
During such a heart-breaking time, many people seek out options open to them to keep their beloved companion close to home. This is how many discover the Bios Urn Pets® which is designed to provide a loving, living reminder of shared love with our life-long friends.
So if you have recently lost your beloved companion and if you are looking for meaningful ideas of what to do with your pet’s ashes, Bios Urn Pets® might be right for you.
Why plant your beloved companion into a living tree urn
When a pet passes away, it can sometimes be extremely difficult trying to find a way to honor them in a respectful and compassionate way.
There are thankfully more and more great ways to honor a pet who has passed on. Allowing your pet to carry on growing alongside you as a tree is one of them which many people find great comfort in. In this way, death becomes a transformation and return to life through nature.
Studies have also shown that after experiencing death, rituals such as gardening and caring for plants has an extremely beneficial effect on the psyche. At Bios, we believe that combining this ritual of care, along with death can have a healthy impact on how we deal with loss and grief.
It is a very symbolic way to remember a beloved companion and it is also good for the planet by giving back to nature. Planting one single tree has a very big environmental impact.
All about the Bios Urn Pets ®
Why it was created
Bios Urn Pets ® was born from a desire to celebrate the beautiful and unique bond shared between humans and animals, with a memorial tree that pays tribute to a beloved family member who has sadly passed.
We wanted to provide a quality product at an affordable price that is also good for our planet. The Bios Urn Pets ® is made of 100% biodegradable materials which leave absolutely no trace in nature. After being used leaves nothing behind but a tree.
How it works
Specially made with two separate capsules, the lower portion of the urn houses the ashes. The design of the biodegradable urn for pets is intentional, as ashes must be kept separate from the tree during the first months of growth because they have high PH levels which are too rich for the young sapling. The Bios Urn® has a special design which allows for the healthy growth of a tree, flower, or plant, even when planting in cremation ashes.
The upper capsule has been designed to hold a special expansion soil disc made of coconut-peat, recycled paper and vermiculite. It will also hold the seed or seedling of your choice which will grow into a tree as a way for your beloved pet to be remembered by. The Bios Urn Pets ® has total seed and seedling compatibility with any tree or plant species around the world so that every single person and family can choose a seed or seedling which is meaningful to them and adapts perfectly to their region.
The tree urn adapts to your needs
It can be used with any kind of ash, and with any amount of ash so that you don´t have to worry about the size of your companion.
It also has no expiry date, meaning that you can order it before receiving the ashes or for keeping the ashes safely inside the Bios urn Pets ® for as long as you wish. Thanks to its special lock mechanism, it ensures the ashes remain locked into the bottom of the urn, and is easy for transporting.
Embraced by pet owners across the world as well as by the veterinary community, pet quiropractors and pets crematoriums, it is considered a tool to help professionals through some of their most difficult conversations.
Things to do with the cremated ashes of your pet
Grow a Tree Memorial In Nature
The Bios Urn Pets® can be planted in any natural environment such as a backyard, garden or forest. If you plant it in your own home, but are concerned about how long you will be living there, you can bring your tree urn with you even if you move.
Aside from a Bios Urn Pets ®, you can look into getting an engraved garden stone for your pet, which you can place near your pet’s tree as a marker.
Keep Them In Your Home
For people who wish to keep their beloved pet’s cremated ashes at home with them, the Bios Urn Pets ® can be planted indoors in planter, or outdoors – whichever you prefer.
This is an ideal option for those who lack a natural space to plant their tree urn, who live in temporary locations, or who just prefer to have an indoor tree. In fact, it was for this very reason we created a planter designed to fit all of our urns perfectly.

[…] The main way people choose to let their pet live through nature is by burying their body (or ashes) in their garden, planting seeds, and allowing the pet to gain life through the plant. Doing so with ashes is more symbolic while burying your pet’s body in your garden actually allows them to feed the plant and gain symbolic new life. Many find comfort knowing that their pet is allowing the end of its life to keep something else alive. [Source] […]

What suggestions might you offer regarding combining my own ashes with the ashes of my 2 dogs?
Thanks
Bios Urn says
Dear Tony. What a wonderful idea. That is very special. In this case we would recommend opting for a Bios Urn for people as it is larger (unless your dogs are very large dogs).
Let us know if we can help with anything else.

I love the Bios Park, and the whole idea of BiosUrn. I’ve followed your company for quite sometime. I have my husband’s ashes here at home, and have mentioned the idea of BiosUrn to my children, not too receptive to the idea, yet. “What if the tree dies, or you move, we would feel terrible.” Maybe, a pet BiosUrn, could let them see how it works.

I have two dogs who I have had cremated. I would like to plant their ashes as small trees in a big planter box I have ordered. I don’t want a two large trees. I want something that will move with us if we leave this house. Maybe a plant. Do you have outdoor trees/plants to accomodate this? I want to put the big planter box out on our deck year round. We live in Georgia.
Bios Urn says
Hi Kim!
Thank you so much for your interest. The Bios Urn Pets® can also be planted in a planter or a suitable planting container like you have chosen to do. You can plant any plant, dwarf tree or flower with our biodegradable urns because all of our urns are sold without any seeds because they work with any kind of seed or seedling. No exceptions! By using your own and sourcing it directly yourself, you can therefore choose a tree which is sentimental and meaningful to you. We want to offer every single person the chance to think about, research and source their own directly, making this process part of the beautiful journey back to nature. We don´t want it to be limited by the few that we would be able to offer on our website, we wanted to enable everyone to choose a tree which is sentimental and meaningful to them and their loved-ones.
