Frequently Asked Questions about Bios Park®

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

What is a Bios Park®?

Bios Parks® are open green spaces to commemorate and remember our loved ones in a natural environment and in harmony with nature. In a Bios Park® you will be able to plant the Bios Urns® for people and for pets directly in the ground or in the Bios Incube® to facilitate their growth whilst the tree or plant establishes itself.

In other words, a Bios Park® is a natural burial ground in which the Bios Urns® can be planted as a way to remember loved-ones by. The urns are 100% biodegradable leaving absolutely no trace in nature after a period of time.

What is a Bios Urn®?

The Bios Urn® is the world’s first biodegradable urn designed to turn a person or a pet into a tree in the after-life. Thanks to their design and manufacture, the Bios Urns® provide proper germination and aids in growing a tree with a person or pet’s ashes. In this way, death becomes a transformation and return to life through nature.
All the urns are compatible with every single tree or plant species. No exceptions!
The Bios Urns® are a more economical burial alternative for people and for the environment, as well as more sustainable for communities dealing with ever-increasing space limitations.

What is the aim of a Bios Park®?

Our planet is running out of burial space
The structure of burial and funerals no longer serve individuals or the environment, and the only way to move forward is through innovation.
Cremation rates are soaring worldwide as it is a much more economical option and because it is also much more environmentally friendly than traditional burials, as traditional burials use an incredible amount of resources and chemicals.
We also need to take collective responsibility for planetary restoration. This can start at an individual level: the environmental impact of planting one single Bios Urn® is immense. Multiply that on a global level and we are talking thousands, if not millions, of trees planted every year.
But we need more places where a biodegradable urn can legally be buried! Regulations around the use of human remains vary widely from country to country. In some countries it is even considered illegal. We need to challenge that. Every single person should have the right to do with their remains or those of a loved-one how best they see fit.
It has always been the vision at Bios to convert cemeteries into forests around the world. Now, thanks to the Bios Park® launch, we want to make this a reality. And we need your help in order to do so! Find out how you can get involved below.

Why would I use a Bios Parks®?

Death comes so quickly. You don´t think about it until it is happening. And then you fall into tradition and tend to call a funeral home because its safe and it’s the norm. Whereas in fact we are the biggest advocates for our family and for ourselves.
Its ok to talk about what you want after you pass away. Its ok to have those conversations.  Its ok to want something different and do whatever makes you happy. Its especially ok to do something out of the ordinary, something non traditional, to celebrate and to honour somebody’s life.
We should be able do the things that are important to us and still have the support from the family and our community. Death doesn’t have to be scary. Hold true to what you want and make it happen.
And if what you want the most for you or for a loved-one is to be returned to nature as a tree, you should have a place which enables you to do just that. A natural burial ground close to you. A Bios Park.
As well as being  a more eco-friendly burial alternative,  it is also a therapeutic one. Studies have shown that after an individual experiences death, rituals such as gardening and caring for plants has an extremely beneficial effect on the psyche. We believe that combining this ritual of care, along with death can have a healthy impact on how we choose to deal with loss and grief.
