• Trim and arrange moss into your desired design, then attach it to a wall or other surface.

The Milkshake Technique

• Collect patches of moss, and make sure they’re sourced responsibly.
• Tear the moss into small pieces and blend it with a liquid like buttermilk, plain yogurt, beer, or some other liquid to help the moss stick to the wall.
• Mix the ingredients until a thick, gel-like mixture forms.
• Pour the mixture into a container, and you’re ready to create some green art (works best on a shaded and damp surface).

Caring for Your Moss Graffiti

Once you have created your moss graffiti, it’s essential to provide the right care just like other houseplants. Water the mossy area gently, avoid direct sprays that could wash away your work. Avoid using fertilizer, in fact, moss prefers nutrient-poor environments. As your living art begins to grow, you can trim it to maintain your design, or let it spread naturally. To keep your moss graffiti healthy, provide a moist environment and protect it from direct sunlight. 

While moss is generally low-maintenance, it’s not without its challenges.
